Delhi Police arrested two alleged criminals after a brief exchange of fire in South Delhi’s RK Puram area early Friday morning. The incident took place around 3:30 AM when police intercepted the suspects, identified as Sanjay and Sonu. During the operation, Sanjay sustained a bullet injury in his leg while trying to escape and is currently receiving medical treatment.
How did the encounter happen?
The police received a tip-off about two men moving on a motorcycle with the intent to commit a robbery in the area. When the police team signaled them to stop, the accused tried to flee and opened fire at the personnel.
Officials stated that the criminals fired a total of six rounds during the confrontation. In response, the police team fired four rounds in self-defense to control the situation. The swift action prevented the suspects from escaping the spot.
Who are the arrested accused?
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sanjay, also known as ‘Darinda’, and his associate Sonu. Sanjay was injured in the crossfire during the retaliatory firing by the police.
Police records indicate that both men were wanted in connection with multiple robbery cases and other crimes in the city. The authorities are currently interrogating them to find out about their involvement in previous criminal activities.
