The tragic suicide of three sisters in Ghaziabad has brought new details to light regarding their father, Chetan Kumar. The incident occurred on February 4 at Bharat City Society, where Nishika (16), Prachi (14), and Pakhi (12) jumped from the 9th floor. Police investigations have revealed that Chetan was under a debt of roughly Rs 2 crore due to losses in share trading. The family dynamic is also under scrutiny as officials probe the living situation involving Chetan and his wife’s sisters.

What did the police find about the family and debts?

Chetan Kumar is a forex and share trader who suffered heavy financial losses recently. Reports indicate he had sold his daughters’ mobile phones just 10 days before the incident to pay electricity bills. The family structure was complex, with Chetan living with his wife and her sisters.

His first wife, Sujata, reportedly left the house in May 2025 but returned later. He then married her sister, Hina. There are also reports of a third sister living in the household like a family member. The three deceased girls were pulled out of school nearly three years ago due to these financial constraints.

Connection to Korean culture and suicide notes

Police recovered a suicide note and an 8-9 page diary from the flat. The writings contained apologies to their father and references to Korean culture. The girls were reportedly obsessed with K-dramas and games, often using names like Maria, Aliza, and Cindy.

The notes suggested they felt rejected by their family and believed Korea was their life. However, no specific game has been confirmed as the direct cause of death yet. The father has blamed this mobile addiction for the tragedy, denying the debt link.

Current status of the investigation

The postmortem examination confirmed head injuries as the cause of death. The bodies were cremated at Nigam Bodh Ghat in Delhi by their father on the evening of February 4. DCP Nimish Patil and ACP Atul Kumar Singh are leading the investigation to understand the exact circumstances.

Police are looking into all angles, including family tensions and the role of the father’s financial instability. Authorities are also trying to recover the sold mobile phones to find more digital evidence regarding the children’s activities before their death.
