Chief Minister Yogi आदित्यनाथ has indicated that the airport is completely prepared, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate it by the end of February 2026. When Will Flights Start?

While the inauguration is planned for February 2026, passengers will have to wait a few weeks to board the first flight. Commercial operations are expected to begin by the end of March or April 2026. It usually takes about 45 days after the inauguration for full commercial flights to start.

IndiGo has been chosen as the launch carrier for the airport. Other airlines like Air India Express and Akasa Air have also signed agreements to operate from here. Initially, flights will connect to 10 major cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata. The airport is currently in the final stage of receiving its aerodrome license from the DGCA.

User Fees and Ticket Charges

The Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) has fixed the User Development Fee (UDF) for passengers. These charges will be applicable until March 31, 2026. Travelers need to pay these fees as part of their ticket prices.

Passenger Type Departure Charge Arrival Charge
Domestic ₹490 ₹210
International ₹980 ₹420

Strict Rules for Surrounding Areas

To ensure safety and security, strict rules have been implemented around the airport area. There is a ban on construction and planting trees within a 20 km radius of the airport without a No Objection Certificate (NOC). This rule is enforced to maintain clear visibility and safety for flight operations.

The first phase of the airport includes one runway and one terminal with a capacity to handle 1.2 crore passengers annually. The government plans to expand this to six runways in the future. For passenger convenience, the airport will also feature DigiYatra for contactless biometric entry.
