The Delhi Metro Magenta Line is undergoing a major transformation to become the largest corridor in the National Capital Region. Recent official approvals have extended the total length of this line to approximately 89 kilometres. With this expansion, the Magenta Line surpasses the Pink Line to hold the record for the longest network. The Union Cabinet has cleared a new 9.9 km extension connecting Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha via Central Vista.
Major Route Changes and Station Updates
The Magenta Line will feature a total of 65 stations once all phases are operational. Out of these, 40 stations will be underground, which is the highest number for any single line in the NCR. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation confirmed that the Indraprastha–Inderlok corridor is now integrated into this line. This route will also feature 21 interchange stations to facilitate smooth travel. Four major stations including Central Secretariat, Azadpur, New Delhi, and Inderlok will serve as triple-interchange hubs.
New Rules, Fares and Renaming
The DMRC has renamed three stations to help commuters identify locations better. Pitampura is now Madhuban Chowk, North Pitampura has become North Pitampura-Prashant Vihar, and Pitampura North is named Haiderpur Village. Commuters must adhere to strict baggage rules with steel gauges now placed at scanners. Only one bag up to 25 kg is allowed on standard lines. Additionally, for the T20 World Cup match on February 12, 2026, train timings have been extended.
