The Delhi Police has intensified its investigation into the shocking triple murder case found near the Peeragarhi flyover. On February 12, the police team took the main accused, Kamruddin alias ‘Baba’, to Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh. This step aims to reconstruct the crime scene and collect vital evidence regarding his operations. The 72-year-old accused was arrested on Wednesday and is currently under a 5-day police custody remand to assist with the ongoing inquiry.

Details of the Peeragarhi Incident

The case began when three bodies were discovered inside a white Tata Tigor car on the service lane near Peeragarhi flyover on February 8. The victims were identified as Randhir Singh (76), Shiv Naresh Singh (47), and Laxmi Devi (40). Police investigations revealed that the accused allegedly served them poison-laced sweets (laddoos) and liquor. Forensic reports confirmed traces of poison in bottles and glasses found inside the vehicle. CCTV footage also captured the accused boarding the car earlier that day in Loni.

What was the motive behind the crime?

The investigation points to a financial scam wrapped in superstition. The accused allegedly promised the victims a “Dhanvarsha” ritual, claiming he could multiply their wealth through occult practices.

  • The victims carried ₹2 lakh in cash for the ritual.
  • The accused promised to increase this amount to ₹3 lakh.
  • After the victims lost consciousness due to poisoning, the accused fled with the money.

Connection to previous crimes

Authorities are now expanding the probe beyond the Delhi incident. Police suspect that Kamruddin alias ‘Baba’ might be involved in a total of six deaths across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The method of using poisoned sweets matches unsolved cases, including two murders in Firozabad in 2025 and one in Rajasthan from 2014. The visit to Firozabad allows the Outer Delhi Police team to verify his criminal history and gather proof linking him to these past crimes.
