A 29-year-old Turkmenistan national, Jeyhun, reportedly injured himself with a knife at a hotel in Paharganj, Central Delhi. The incident occurred after the hotel staff at White Glow Hotel refused his demand for a free stay on February 11, 2026. Jeyhun, who was highly inebriated at the time, had previously stayed at the same hotel from January 20 to February 10, 2026.
What Led to the Incident?
On February 11, 2026, Jeyhun returned to the White Glow Hotel and requested a room without any payment, claiming he had no money. Hotel management, citing security and business regulations, denied his request for a complimentary stay. Following this refusal, Jeyhun used a knife he was carrying to inflict a wound on his neck.
Immediate Response and Current Status
Hotel employees and the Delhi Police ‘beat team’ promptly responded to the scene. They quickly transported Jeyhun to Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) for emergency treatment. While initial reports indicated significant blood loss, his condition is now stable. Medical tests have confirmed that Jeyhun was in an extremely intoxicated state when the incident took place.
Police Investigation and Broader Implications
The Delhi Police, specifically from Paharganj station, is currently investigating the matter. They are examining Jeyhun’s visa and travel documents to determine if he has been staying in India illegally. The case, involving a foreign national, an attempted self-harm, and financial distress, may also be reported to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). This incident has prompted local authorities in tourist hubs like Paharganj to heighten vigilance regarding the behavior of foreign visitors and hotel security protocols. Hotels have been instructed to report any suspicious guest behavior immediately.
