What caused the fire and the extent of damage?
Fire officials suspect that a short circuit in the temporary wiring used for decoration triggered the blaze. The fire spread rapidly because of highly inflammable materials present at the venue. Items such as synthetic curtains, plastic flowers, and plywood structures fueled the flames.
The destruction was extensive within the premises. The main wedding stage, the dining area, and several temporary guest rooms were completely reduced to ashes. Estimates indicate a financial loss of several lakhs of rupees for the owners due to the destruction of property and equipment.
What actions are authorities taking now?
The firefighting operation lasted for over two hours before the situation was brought under control. This incident has raised serious concerns regarding fire safety in open-air wedding venues. Many such farms rely only on external help rather than having internal sprinkler systems.
In response to this event, the Gurugram district administration is expected to issue a new advisory. This will mandate immediate safety audits for all banquet halls and wedding farms. Officials are urging citizens to check for a valid Fire NOC before booking venues, as recent reports suggest many buildings operate with expired clearances.
