A tragic road accident took place early Saturday morning on NH-24 in Delhi, resulting in the death of an elderly man. A speeding black Scorpio car lost control near Ghazipur village and crashed onto the footpath where the victim was walking. The incident happened around 6:00 AM when the area is usually busy with workers going to the nearby market. Police have detained five young individuals who were inside the luxury vehicle at the time of the crash.

How did the accident happen?

According to the Delhi Police, the black Scorpio was coming from the direction of Mayur Vihar at a very high speed. Near a petrol pump on the service road of Ghazipur village, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car first hit the divider separating the main road and the service road with great force. Due to the impact, the vehicle skidded and flipped onto the footpath.

Unfortunately, 76-year-old Pack Karmai was walking on that footpath with two of his colleagues when the car struck him. The impact was severe, and he died on the spot. The police received a PCR call immediately and reached the location to manage the situation. The car was carrying five people, including two males and three females, all aged between 22 and 25 years.

Who was the victim and what is police doing?

The victim has been identified as Pack Karmai, a native of the 24 Parganas district in West Bengal. He was currently living in Ghazipur village and worked as a laborer at the famous Ghazipur Flower Market (Phool Mandi). He was on his daily way to work when this sudden tragedy occurred.

The police have taken custody of the damaged vehicle and sent the victim’s body for a post-mortem examination. His family members in West Bengal have been informed about the incident. Authorities are currently questioning the five occupants of the car to understand who was driving and if alcohol was involved. Investigation is going on to determine the exact cause of the reckless driving.
