Details of the incident and police response

According to DCP Sachin Sharma, the accused has been identified as Anil Khiladi, a cab driver by profession. He was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when a heated argument broke out between him and his 35-year-old wife around noon. The verbal dispute quickly escalated into physical violence, during which Anil allegedly used a scarf to strangle her. The couple’s two sons, aged 10 and 13, were present at home and witnessed the terrifying ordeal.

The children ran outside crying to call for help, which prompted the neighbors to contact the police control room. When officers arrived at the spot, they found the woman lying unconscious on a mattress with a scarf tied around her neck. She was immediately rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Her body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to confirm the exact cause of death.

Motive behind the crime and legal action

Initial rumors in the locality suggested that the murder might have been triggered by suspicions of an illicit affair. However, Delhi Police have officially denied these claims. Investigators stated that the incident was the result of a domestic disagreement that turned fatal due to the husband’s intoxicated state. The police found Anil sitting in the room with the victim’s body when they arrived to make the arrest.

A case of murder has been registered at the Sultanpuri Police Station under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The authorities have handed over the custody of the two young boys to extended family members for their safety and care. The police are currently conducting further inquiries to build a strong case against the accused in court.
