The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) officially removed the Stage II restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) for Delhi-NCR on February 18, 2026. This decision comes after a noticeable improvement in air quality across the region. The curbs, which had been in place since October 19, 2025, are now lifted, offering relief to various sectors.

Why were GRAP 2 Curbs Lifted?

The CAQM sub-committee revoked Stage II after Delhi’s daily average Air Quality Index (AQI) showed significant improvement. It was recorded at 214 (Poor) at 4 PM on Wednesday, a notable drop from 249 on Tuesday and 261 on Monday. Favorable weather conditions, including light rain (0.2 mm), stronger surface winds, and a rise in minimum temperatures, contributed to this positive change.

What Restrictions are Still in Place?

While Stage II restrictions are lifted, measures under Stage I (Poor Category) continue across the National Capital Region. This means strict enforcement of dust control at construction sites, mechanized road sweeping, water sprinkling, and a ban on open burning of waste are still active. The use of coal or firewood in roadside eateries and commercial kitchens also remains prohibited.

How Does This Impact Delhiites?

The lifting of GRAP Stage II offers much-needed relief for businesses involved in transport, construction, and commercial activities. Although specific curbs like increased parking fees are gone, authorities still encourage the use of public transport. Citizens are advised to maintain their vehicle PUC certificates and report polluting activities using the 311 App or Sameer App.
