The Delhi Police has successfully solved a sensitive kidnapping case within hours by rescuing a three-day-old newborn baby. A team from the North Rohini Police Station traced the infant to the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and arrested two suspects involved in the crime. The baby was taken from the Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar (BSA) Hospital in Sector-6, Rohini, after a woman reportedly tricked the mother into handing over the child.

How did the woman steal the baby from the hospital?

The investigation revealed a planned approach by the accused to take the child. The main suspect, identified as Rani, had been visiting the hospital ward for a few days to befriend the victim, Sahin. She gained the mother’s trust by acting like a helpful attendant to other patients. On the morning of February 17, 2026, around 5:00 AM, she offered to hold the baby while the mother rested. Taking advantage of the situation, she fled with the infant. The family realized the baby was missing hours later and called the police control room around 9:00 AM.

What action has the police taken against the accused?

Under the initiative Operation Milap, the police quickly checked CCTV footage from the hospital gates and used mobile tracking to follow the route of the suspects. The police team intercepted them on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway later that evening. Both Rani and her accomplice, Ahibaran Saxena, have been arrested. A case has been registered under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Senior officers have advised the public not to trust strangers blindly in hospital wards to prevent such incidents in the future.
