The Noida Authority has officially launched a major plan to restructure its traffic management and improve road conditions across the city. As part of this overhaul, the Authority has approved the construction of four new automated puzzle parking facilities in high-density areas. This project, funded by the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) at an estimated cost of ₹60 crore, aims to clear roadside congestion and provide organized parking spaces for residents and commuters.
Project Locations and Investment Details
The project is specifically designed to address traffic hotspots in commercial and industrial hubs. The four selected locations include Sector 63, Sector 62 near Fortis Hospital, Sector 124 near the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, and Sector 15 near the commercial markets. Each parking unit is estimated to cost around ₹16.5 crore, with a total budget of ₹60 crore. These structures will stand 4 to 6 stories high and can accommodate between 100 to 150 cars each.
Efficiency and Safety Features of Puzzle Parking
Unlike traditional multi-level parking where car retrieval can take up to 20 minutes, these sensor-based systems allow drivers to get their vehicles back in just 3 to 6 minutes. The puzzle design enables cars to move both vertically and horizontally, ensuring that any vehicle can be retrieved without moving others. For safety, the system includes advanced sensors that automatically halt operations if a child or animal enters the moving zone. The Authority plans to start the key phases of this project by October 2026.
Administrative Overhaul for Traffic Management
In a significant administrative move, the Noida Authority has disbanded its standalone Traffic Cell and Health Department. These responsibilities have now been merged into the city’s 10 Zonal Work Circles. According to CEO Krishna Karunesh, this integration will ensure single-point accountability and allow officials to address local traffic issues within their specific jurisdictions more effectively. Once these parking lots are operational, the Authority will strictly enforce No Parking zones on nearby roads to maintain a jam-free environment.
