A distressing incident has emerged from Gurugram where a 19-year-old university student is fighting for her life after allegedly being brutally assaulted by her live-in partner. The victim, who hails from North Tripura and studies at GD Goenka University, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The police have arrested the accused, identified as Shivam, a resident of Delhi, following the incident reported late Thursday night.
Why did the accused attack the student?
The police investigation reveals that the couple had been living together in a PG accommodation in Sector 69 for several months since September 2025. According to DCP (South) Hitesh Yadav, the accused attacked the victim in a fit of rage because he reportedly doubted her character. The assault took place late Thursday night following a heated argument over this issue. Surprisingly, the police noted that marriage discussions were already underway between both families when this violent altercation occurred.
What is the current condition of the victim?
The student suffered multiple severe physical injuries during the attack. She was initially taken to a government hospital in Gurugram but had to be transferred to AIIMS Delhi as her condition worsened. She remains in critical condition under constant medical observation. The Gurugram Police reached the spot after receiving a distress call from the victim’s mother and arrested Shivam on Friday. An FIR has been registered at the Badshahpur police station, and forensic evidence is currently being examined to build a strong case.
