The Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF) has launched a strict plan to clean up the city streets and markets. Official orders have been issued to install steel dustbins in all local markets and outside government offices within exactly one month. A private agency has been hired to complete this work, and officials are ensuring that the infrastructure is durable enough to withstand the weather.
New Rules for Garbage Disposal
The corporation has made it clear that simply placing bins is not enough. The private agency must geo-tag every single dustbin they install and send a photo to the MCF officials as proof. This system is being used to stop any negligence in the installation process.
Residents and shopkeepers will have to separate their garbage into wet and dry waste before throwing it in these bins. The decision to use steel instead of plastic was taken because plastic bins often get damaged by strong sunlight and heavy rains, while steel lasts much longer.
Heavy Fines and Monitoring Teams
To ensure people actually use these bins, the MCF has formed 40 special teams comprising corporation employees. These teams will roam around markets and public places to catch anyone throwing garbage in the open. The fines are very high this time to discourage littering.
If an individual is caught littering, the fine is ₹5,000 for the first time and ₹10,000 for the second time. For those dumping bulk waste, the fine starts at ₹25,000. This strict action comes after Faridabad scored very poorly in the market cleanliness category of the last survey.
