The Delhi Police has successfully solved the shocking murder case in Siraspur where a woman and her three young daughters were found dead. Within just 72 hours of discovering the bodies, the police tracked down the main suspect, who is the husband and father of the victims. He was arrested in Rajasthan after he tried to flee the capital following the crime.
Why did the accused commit this crime?
The investigation has revealed disturbing details about the motive behind this quadruple murder. The accused, Munchun Kewat, was a vegetable seller who had a serious gambling habit involving cricket betting. He had accumulated a debt of around ₹2 lakh and was under pressure to repay lenders. Police officials also mentioned that he suspected his wife of having an affair, which caused frequent fights in the house. These financial troubles and domestic disputes allegedly pushed him to commit the crime.
How did the police catch him?
After the incident, the accused fled the city to evade arrest. The Delhi Police formed 15 specialized teams to hunt him down. Officers analyzed CCTV footage which showed him leaving the area in an e-rickshaw early in the morning. Through technical surveillance, his location was traced to Kishangarh in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan. A coordinated effort between Delhi and Rajasthan police led to his capture on February 28.
