In a chilling incident reported from the Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) area of Lucknow, the body of a man was discovered inside a deep freezer of a veg biryani shop. The victim, identified as Vijay Pal, was a resident of Itunja and worked as a laborer and farmer involved in cable laying. The discovery was made on Sunday morning, March 1, 2026, when the shop owner returned to open the premises after it had been closed for several days.

Key Details of the BKT Fridge Murder Case

The shop is located in front of the GCRG College gate on Chandrika Devi Road. The owner, Shani Rawat, had kept the shop closed for about four days due to his father’s passing. When Shani arrived to collect some utensils, he found the body of 33-38-year-old Vijay Pal inside the unplugged deep freezer. While the police found the victim’s mobile phone and Aadhaar card in his pocket, the circumstances remain suspicious. One slipper of the deceased was found on the roadside and the other inside a different shop, suggesting a struggle or a planned disposal.

Comparison with the Recent Blue Drum Incident

This case has emerged while the city was still recovering from the horrific Blue Drum murder in the Ashiyana area. In that instance, which occurred around February 20, a businessman was killed and his remains were hidden in a plastic drum. The back-to-back discovery of bodies in containers has raised concerns about public safety in the city. DCP North, Gopal Krishna Choudhary, mentioned that forensic teams have gathered evidence and are currently reviewing CCTV footage to track movements around the shop during the time it was shut.
