The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced a revised schedule for train operations on the occasion of Holi. On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, metro services will not be available during the morning hours. Commuters planning to travel across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) early in the day should make alternative travel arrangements, as the metro gates will open only in the afternoon.

Timing and Service Details for Holi

Metro train services will start at 2:30 PM on all lines on March 4. This suspension of morning services applies to the entire network, including the Airport Express Line and the Rapid Metro in Gurugram. Trains will not run from the usual morning start time until 2:30 PM. Once operations begin, services will continue normally for the rest of the day.

Commuters who rely on Metro feeder buses should also note that these buses will not operate until 2:30 PM. The DMRC makes this adjustment annually because passenger numbers are typically very low during the morning of the festival. Token counters and customer care centers at the stations will open simultaneously with the entry gates at 2:30 PM.

Safety Rules and Guidelines for Passengers

The DMRC has issued specific travel guidelines to ensure cleanliness and safety inside the trains. Passengers will not be allowed to enter the metro stations if they are wearing wet clothes or have colors on them that could spoil the train upholstery or station premises. Security personnel, including the CISF, will be conducting checks at the gates to enforce these rules.

Carrying liquid colors, sprays, or entering the station in an intoxicated state is strictly prohibited. To handle the expected rush in the evening, the DMRC will deploy additional staff at busy interchange stations like Rajiv Chowk and Kashmere Gate after the services resume. Passengers traveling to railway stations or the airport before 2:30 PM must use cabs or autos.
