How did the incident unfold?
According to the information received, the victim was standing at the bus stop located on the border of Sector 27 and 28. A car stopped near her, and the men inside started making obscene gestures. When the girl resisted, they tried to forcibly pull her inside the car. The brave girl did not lose hope and screamed loudly for help.
Hearing her cries, local people and commuters immediately gathered at the spot. Seeing the crowd approaching, the goons panicked and fled the scene. Before escaping, one of the accused reportedly slammed the girl’s head against the car bonnet, causing her minor injuries. The unity shown by the public prevented a major crime from happening that evening.
Police action and investigation status
The matter was reported to the Shahbad Dairy police station, and an FIR has been registered. The police have pressed charges under the POCSO Act, along with sections for molestation and attempted kidnapping. The victim showed presence of mind and provided the registration number of the car to the police.
Despite the car details being available, the main accused are reportedly still absconding four days after the incident. Police teams are conducting raids to identify and arrest the suspects based on the vehicle number.
