A shocking incident has come to light in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area where two sisters were found dead inside their home on Monday evening. The mother of the victims was also discovered in an unconscious state at the scene. Police officials responded to a distress call around 6:10 PM after relatives raised an alarm about being unable to contact the family. The authorities had to force their way into the house as it was locked from the inside.

What did the police find at the crime scene?
When the police team entered the residential house in Malviya Nagar, they found the bodies of two women, aged 33 and 28 years. Preliminary observations by the crime team suggest different causes of death for the two victims. One sister was found with a pillow over her face, indicating she might have been smothered. The other sister had visible ligature marks on her neck, which points towards strangulation.
The mother was found alive but unconscious in the same area. She was immediately rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where she is currently undergoing medical treatment. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) unit was called to the spot to collect samples and evidence from the rooms where the incident took place.
What does the investigation say so far?
Since the entry door was bolted from the inside with no signs of external forced entry, investigators are working on the theory that this might be a case of familicide followed by an attempted suicide. The police suspect the mother may have killed her two daughters before trying to take her own life, though the exact motive is yet to be established.
A case has been registered in the matter, and police are questioning neighbors and relatives to understand the family’s situation. Officials stated that a clear picture will emerge only after the mother is fit to give her statement. Meanwhile, the bodies have been sent for an autopsy to confirm the time and exact cause of death.
