Indian passengers arriving at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Friday, March 6, shared their travel experiences from Dubai. Despite the ongoing tension in West Asia, travelers described the UAE as completely safe. The local administration has taken major steps to help tourists who got stuck due to flight cancellations. Reports confirm that the UAE government is paying for the hotel and food expenses of these stranded visitors.
What help is the UAE Government providing?
The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) and Abu Dhabi officials have issued strict rules for hotels. They clearly stated that no hotel can evict guests whose flights were cancelled or delayed due to the security situation. The government is taking full financial responsibility for their stay and meals.
Hotels have been asked to send the bills for these extended stays directly to the government tourism departments. If a booking has expired, the hotel must allow the guest to stay at the same terms and rates as their original booking. This move ensures that tourists do not face financial pressure while waiting for their flights to resume.
Flight operations and passenger safety updates
Data shows that over 20,200 stranded passengers have already received help including free lodging and meals. While over 1,500 flights were cancelled earlier in the week, limited special flights have now resumed. Aviation authorities have opened special air corridors to manage traffic, allowing about 48 flights per hour to operate.
Indian carriers reported over 1,200 cancellations, but re-routing plans are now in place. Passengers landing in Delhi praised the arrangements and said they did not feel the impact of the conflict. They mentioned that the authorities prevented chaos at the airports and provided constant updates and support during the uncertainty.
