The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has officially granted the mandatory security clearance to the Noida International Airport in Jewar. This approval, issued on March 5, 2026, serves as the final security vetting and No Objection Certificate required before operations can commence. With this critical step completed, the airport is now on the verge of receiving its operating license from the aviation regulator.

When will the flights start operating?
With the security clearance in hand, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is set to conduct a final on-site inspection next week. Officials expect the aerodrome license to be issued within a week following this check. Once the license is granted, commercial flight operations are projected to begin very soon.
- Domestic Operations: Expected to start in April 2026, roughly 45 days after licensing.
- International Flights: Scheduled to commence by September 2026.
- Primary Airlines: IndiGo, Air India, and Akasa Air will be the first carriers.
How is the security and infrastructure being handled?
The security framework at the airport will be robust, with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) already deploying over 1,000 personnel. The clearance covers vital safety protocols, including the anti-hijack and bomb threat contingency plans. The first phase of the airport is fully equipped to handle 12 million passengers annually, featuring advanced baggage scanning and perimeter intrusion detection systems.
