A husband and wife duo has been arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly robbing a passenger on a moving bus in Outer North Delhi. The incident occurred on Thursday near Kheda Kalan when the bus was approaching the ESR near Om Dharam Kanta. Investigators revealed that the couple used a planned tactic involving fake accusations to distract passengers and rob their target at knifepoint.

How the Couple Executed the Robbery

According to Additional DCP Patel Nirav Kumar, the accused have been identified as Deepak (26) and his wife Dipali (23). They boarded the public bus with the intention of targeting a specific passenger. To create a diversion, Dipali suddenly accused a fellow passenger, Ravi Kumar, of misbehaving with her.

As the accusation drew the attention of other commuters and created confusion inside the vehicle, Deepak took advantage of the situation. He allegedly produced a knife-like sharp object and threatened the victim. While everyone was focused on the woman’s claims, the husband snatched the victim’s valuables.

Police Action and Recovery Details

The victim reported that his OPPO mobile phone and a wallet containing ₹7,600 were stolen. The wallet also held important documents like his Aadhaar card, PAN card, and driving license. The bus conductor acted swiftly during the commotion and made a PCR call, alerting a nearby patrol team.

Deepak attempted to escape by jumping off the moving bus but was intercepted by the police team. Dipali was apprehended on the spot by the victim and bus staff. Police have successfully recovered the mobile phone, the documents, and ₹4,400 of the stolen cash. The sharp weapon used in the crime was also seized.

  • Criminal Record: Deepak has a history of four prior robbery and theft cases in Narela and Alipur.
  • Current Status: A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and both are in custody.
