New Rules for Commuters and Future Developments
The government has also updated several travel rules to make public transport more inclusive. Transgender individuals residing in Delhi are now eligible for free travel on all DTC and cluster buses, similar to the existing scheme for women. Regarding the ‘Pink Saheli Smart Card’ for women, the transport department has confirmed that pink paper tickets will remain valid for the next three months to allow a smooth transition to the card-based system.
The new DTC headquarters project is being handled in partnership with DSIIDC. Construction is expected to begin in June 2026 and will take approximately two and a half years to complete. As part of the agreement, DSIIDC will hold commercial usage rights for half of the building for a period of 30 years. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the goal is to achieve a 100% electric bus fleet by the end of 2026 to ensure a cleaner environment for all residents.
