Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the Delhi Budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the Vidhan Sabha on March 24, 2026. This year the total budget outlay is Rs 1,03,700 crore which has been officially named as the Green Budget. The government has focused on environmental protection by allocating 21 percent of the total funds specifically for green initiatives and sustainable projects to improve the air quality and ecology of the city.

Important Financial Allocations and Departmental Budgets
The government has divided the expenditure into two main categories where 70.3 percent is for revenue expenditure and 29.7 percent is set aside for capital expenditure. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) received its highest ever allocation in history while the water and fire departments also saw significant increases in their funding to improve public services.

Green Initiatives and Welfare Schemes for Delhi Residents
In a major relief for households, the Chief Minister announced that every home in Delhi will receive two free LPG cylinders annually on the occasions of Holi and Diwali. A dedicated fund of Rs 260 crore has been set aside for this scheme. The government also plans to install solar panels over city drains to generate clean energy and reduce evaporation. To improve the visual landscape and safety, Rs 200 crore will be spent to move 52,000 kilometers of overhead wires underground.
