Delhi Govt to Revamp 100 Foot Overbridges: Private Agencies to Take Over Maintenance from April 2026

The Delhi government is initiating a comprehensive plan to rejuvenate over 100 foot overbridges across the national capital starting April 1, 2026. Under this new initiative, private agencies and corporate houses will adopt these structures for maintenance and beautification. The Public Works Department has prepared specific guidelines to ensure the upkeep of these bridges. Private firms will be granted limited advertising rights on the structures in exchange for handling all maintenance, cleanliness, and beautification efforts. This no-profit no-loss model ensures that the government generates revenue for upkeep while the agencies manage the daily operations.

As part of the broader infrastructure push, several new foot overbridges have already been inaugurated or approved for construction. The PWD Minister Parvesh Verma has emphasized that the goal is to fix the poor condition of existing bridges while expanding the network to busy markets and hospital areas. The government is also coordinating with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for revenue sharing and necessary clearances.
