A serious incident occurred at a CNG filling station in Dwarka’s Mitraon village on Wednesday, April 2, 2026. A truck’s CNG cylinder exploded while gas was being refilled, resulting in injuries to four individuals. The loud blast caused immediate panic in the southwest Delhi area, and the impact left several people on the spot with burn injuries.

Details of the Dwarka CNG Station Incident
The explosion took place during a routine refueling process for a commercial truck. According to the reports, four people were injured in the blast, three of whom are employees working at the CNG pump. One person is currently reported to be in critical condition and has been shifted to a nearby hospital for emergency care. Following the accident, teams from the local police, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), and Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) arrived at the scene to examine the debris and find out the exact cause of the failure.
Mandatory Safety Guidelines for CNG Users
- CNG cylinders must be hydro-tested every three years according to the Gas Cylinder Rules, 2004.
- Vehicle owners should only use seamless cylinders certified by the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization (PESO).
- Refueling must be done at a maximum pressure of 200 Bars and the engine must be switched off during the process.
- It is strictly prohibited to use LPG or oxygen cylinders for CNG as they cannot withstand high pressure.
- A valid fitness certificate from the Transport Department is mandatory for all CNG vehicles.
- IGL recommends using only approved workshops for the installation and maintenance of CNG kits.
