Delhi Police Crime Branch has dismantled a major racket involved in the repackaging and sale of expired food items in Dwarka. The operation led to the arrest of three individuals who were caught altering expiry dates on popular soft drinks and biscuits. The raid was conducted at a godown in Bamnoli village following a tip-off received by the authorities regarding illegal activities in the area.
Details of the Seizure and Modus Operandi
The police team recovered a large quantity of expired stock during the raid at the Sector 28 premises. The accused used chemicals like thinners to erase original manufacturing details and utilized a printing machine to stamp new dates on the products. This illegal activity was designed to sell old stock as fresh items in the local market, which poses a serious threat to public health. Officials from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) were present to collect samples and verify the licenses of the firm.

The Crime Branch arrested the owner of the firm along with two associates during the operation. The group admitted to procuring near-expiry items at low prices and distributing them after falsifying the batch numbers.
