The Delhi government has implemented a complete ban on the direct sale of LPG cylinders from godowns starting April 5, 2026. This move is designed to make the gas distribution system more transparent and efficient for every household. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta confirmed that the supply is being monitored closely to ensure that residents receive their cylinders without any interruptions. The government aims to curb illegal activities and ensure a stable supply across the city.
Mandatory Home Delivery and New Distribution Guidelines
Under the new rules, all LPG distributors must deliver booked cylinders directly to the consumer’s residence. Residents have been advised not to visit storage points or gas agencies to collect their cylinders personally. Oil Marketing Companies have issued strict instructions that any direct sale from a godown is illegal and will lead to immediate legal consequences for the distributor. Currently, the average delivery time for domestic cylinders in the city is recorded at 4.24 days, and pending demand is being cleared efficiently.
Strict Action Against Black Marketing and Hoarding
The authorities have started a massive crackdown on illegal activities related to gas supply. Delhi Police recently conducted raids at 17 different locations, while the Food and Supplies Department inspected 76 gas agencies and storage sites. These steps are taken under the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Control Order 2000. To help the public, the government has set up a dedicated control room with helpline numbers 011-23379836 and 8383824659 for reporting unauthorized storage, transport, or overcharging.
