The East District Cyber Police in Delhi busted a fake job consultancy operating in Laxmi Nagar. This firm was allegedly cheating unemployed youth by promising them high-paying jobs in leading e-commerce companies like Amazon. The matter came to light on April 6, 2026, after victims reported being duped of their money under the guise of security deposits for training.
How did the job scam operate?
The fraudsters used the JOB HAI application to find potential targets. Victims were asked to register on the app and apply for roles in Laxmi Nagar. Once they applied, they received calls from unknown numbers informing them that they were selected for a job at Amazon with a monthly salary of 21,500 rupees. The suspects then followed a specific pattern to extract money:
- Victims were called for an interview at an office located near Laxmi Nagar Metro Station.
- They were asked to submit their resumes via WhatsApp before the meeting.
- The scammers demanded a security deposit of 2,500 rupees per person for a 7-day training period.
- Once the payment was made online, the suspects provided fake selection letters and receipts.
- After receiving copies of Aadhaar and PAN cards, the accused stopped responding to phone calls.
Action taken by Delhi Police
The investigation began when a 21-year-old victim named Nitin, hailing from Gorakhpur, UP, filed a complaint through the cyber helpline. He and his friend Mahek had visited the office on March 20 after receiving a call. Following the complaint, the police identified the office and the individuals involved. The key details of the police action are listed below:

| Other Suspects | Deepak Paswan and two female staff members |

The police found that the consultancy had no tie-ups with Amazon and was purely a front for financial fraud. Authorities have urged job seekers to be cautious of firms asking for upfront payments or security deposits for jobs in reputed companies.
