Which 7 New High-Speed Rail Corridors were Announced?

The budget has identified seven new routes for high-speed trains to connect major metro cities and economic hubs. While the Mumbai-Ahmedabad line is already under construction with a target to finish by December 2029, these new lines will use indigenous technology capable of speeds up to 250 kmph. The total estimated cost for the network expansion is nearly ₹15 trillion.

  • Varanasi–Siliguri: Extending connectivity to the Northeast.

New Waterways Projects for Patna and Odisha

The Finance Minister announced a historic package to develop inland waterways, aiming to raise the freight share from 2% to 10% by 2030. Patna and Odisha are the top priorities in this plan. Large ships and inland vessels have been granted Infrastructure Status, which will help them get long-term credit easily.
