The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board has made it clear that registration is mandatory for every pilgrim, whether traveling by road or helicopter, to ensure a smooth and organized journey for everyone.

When Will the Temples Open for Darshan?
The yatra is set to commence officially on April 19, 2026, which marks the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya. On this day, the portals for Yamunotri and Gangotri will be opened for devotees. Following this, the Kedarnath temple will open its doors on April 22, 2026. The Badrinath temple is scheduled to open early in the morning on April 23, 2026. Authorities have urged travelers to book their slots early and align their travel plans with these opening dates.
How to Register and What Are the New Rules?
Registration is completely free of cost, and officials have warned against paying anyone for special or VIP passes. You can easily register through the official website registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in or by using the “Tourist Care Uttarakhand” mobile app. For those who prefer a simpler method, you can register via WhatsApp by sending the message “Yatra” to +91-8394833833. It is important to note that an Aadhaar card is mandatory for registration this year.
To manage the crowd better and ensure safety, the Transport Department has introduced a “Check-on-the-Go” system. Officers will now verify documents inside vehicles using tablets, so you won’t have to wait in long lines at checkposts. Additionally, a strict ban on mobile phones and cameras inside the temple complexes has been announced to maintain the sanctity of the shrines. A medical self-declaration form is also now part of the registration process to help those with health issues.
