A tragic road accident occurred in South Delhi on Thursday afternoon, claiming the life of a bank employee. The incident took place near the Chirag Delhi flyover around 3:30 PM. A speeding truck, which was carrying gas cylinders, crushed a cyclist to death on the service road. The police reached the location immediately and arrested the driver. The victim was returning home from his work when this unfortunate incident happened.
How did the accident happen?
The truck was traveling from Hauz Khas towards Nehru Place. Instead of taking the flyover, the driver chose to go through the service road underneath. At this specific intersection, heavy vehicles are supposed to divert, but the driver ignored the rules and went straight towards Masjid Moth at high speed. The cyclist was turning right from under the flyover when the truck hit him. The impact was severe, and the front wheel of the truck ran over the victim.
Details about the victim and police action
The deceased has been identified as 56-year-old Raju Kazania, a resident of Anna Nagar near ITO. He worked as a peon at the Punjab National Bank branch in CR Park. The accused driver is 29-year-old Arun Kumar from Bihar. Police have seized both the truck and the bicycle for investigation. A case has been registered for rash driving and causing death by negligence. The body was sent to the AIIMS mortuary for post-mortem procedures.
