A heartbreaking aviation tragedy struck Colombia on Wednesday when a passenger plane crashed shortly after takeoff, leaving no survivors. All 15 people on board, including a sitting congressman, lost their lives when the aircraft operated by Satena went down in a remote mountainous region. The flight disappeared from radar screens just 12 minutes into its journey from Cúcuta, sparking a desperate search that ended in grim news near the Venezuelan border.

Details of the Satena Flight Accident

The aircraft involved was a Beechcraft 1900D with registration number HK-4709. It departed from Camilo Daza International Airport at 11:42 AM local time, intending to fly to Ocaña. However, air traffic control lost contact with the plane at 11:54 AM. The wreckage was eventually found in the Norte de Santander province.

Officials have confirmed that 13 passengers and 2 crew members died in the crash. Among the victims were Congressman Diógenes Quintero Amaya and social leader Carlos Salcedo. Initial investigations point toward heavy fog and poor visibility as likely factors, potentially causing the plane to fly into the terrain. Investigators also reported that the aircraft’s emergency beacon failed to activate upon impact.

Thailand Military Aircraft Crash Kills 2 Pilots

In a separate aviation incident on Thursday, a Royal Thai Air Force training aircraft crashed in the Chom Thong district, about 60 kilometers from Chiang Mai. This accident resulted in the death of both pilots on board. The plane involved was a Beechcraft AT-6TH Wolverine, which was part of a new fleet commissioned only months ago.

The crash happened between 10:20 AM and 10:30 AM during a Combat Search and Rescue training mission. The Air Force has formed a committee to investigate the cause of the accident thoroughly. This incident adds to a difficult week for aviation safety across different regions.
