Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena is all set to inaugurate a new cycle track at Asita East on the Yamuna floodplains this Saturday. This inauguration marks the beginning of the concluding phase of Palaash Mahotsav 2026. The two-day event, running from February 21 to February 22, invites the people of Delhi to experience a restored ecological space right in the middle of the city.
What are the features of the new cycle track?
The newly developed leisure cycle track spans 1.3 kilometers and is situated at Asita East, near ITO. This area was once a degraded site but has now been transformed into a green public space. The track allows visitors to enjoy cycling while staying close to nature. It serves as a new recreational spot for families looking for a weekend outing.
This project is part of a larger plan by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to build 51 kilometers of corridors for non-motorized transport along the Yamuna banks. The aim is to create eco-friendly paths on both the eastern and western banks of the river. By opening this track, the administration hopes to connect residents with the story of the river’s ecological revival.
Ticket prices and main attractions at the festival
Entry tickets for the Palaash Mahotsav are priced at a very affordable rate of ₹25. Visitors can book their tickets online through the official website, palaashmahotsav.com. The festival will remain open to the public from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Apart from the cycle track, the festival features beautiful floral displays, including tulips which are usually seen in Lutyens’ Delhi. Several competitions like floral rangoli making, painting, and photography are also organized to engage the public in this celebration of spring.
