Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) issued a fresh advisory for international passengers on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. The move comes as several westbound flights are facing schedule changes and delays due to the ongoing geopolitical situation in West Asia. Airport officials have strictly advised travelers to verify their real-time flight status with their respective airlines before leaving for the airport to avoid any inconvenience.

How are international routes being impacted?
The airspace closures in Iran, Iraq, and Qatar have forced airlines to reroute many international flights. This rerouting has caused delays and forced some flights to make technical stops for refueling. For example, some New York bound flights are now stopping in Rome. Air India and Air India Express planned to operate 58 flights on March 11 to keep connectivity alive for stranded passengers in the West Asia region. However, the extra flying time and fuel costs have led to new challenges for the aviation sector.
Important guidelines and resources for passengers
Passengers are urged to use only verified official channels to get information about their travel. DIAL has highlighted specific resources that travelers can use to stay updated during this period:
- Official Website: Passengers can check www.newdelhiairport.in for the latest flight movements.
- Travel Assistance: The “Hoi” app is available for essential travel and airport assistance.
- Immigration Queries: For any immigration-related help, passengers can contact the FRRO at afrro.igia@nic.in.
- Airlines Flexibility: Carriers like IndiGo and Air India Express have previously offered waivers on rescheduling fees for those affected by the Middle East situation.
Impact on fuel prices and airfare
The current situation has also affected the economics of flying. Air India announced that they are applying fuel surcharges on both international and domestic routes because of the rise in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices. Since jet fuel accounts for nearly 40 percent of an airline’s operating cost, these charges were introduced to manage the financial strain. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Civil Aviation is monitoring airfare trends to ensure that passengers do not face sudden and extreme price hikes during this crisis.
