The Delhi government presented its annual budget of Rs 1,03,700 crore for the 2026-27 financial year on March 24, 2026. Chief Minister and Finance Minister Rekha Gupta introduced the Green Budget which marks a 3.7% increase from the previous year. Major Sector-wise Allocations and Infrastructure Plans
The budget distributes funds across several critical sectors to ensure city-wide development. Education remains a top priority with an allocation of over Rs 19,000 crore. The health sector received Rs 13,034 crore to improve medical facilities and increase the number of medical seats. Transport and road infrastructure also saw significant funding for the redevelopment of 750 km of roads and municipal projects. The government aims to increase waste processing capacity from 7,000 to 15,000 tonnes per day.

New Schemes for Education and Social Welfare
The government announced the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana which provides Rs 2,500 monthly financial assistance to women in the city. For students, the budget includes free bicycles for 1.30 lakh Class 9 girl students and laptops for meritorious Class 10 students. Additionally, 8,777 classrooms will be equipped with smart boards. A Gig Workers Welfare Board will also be established to support delivery and service sector workers. The budget proposes a revenue expenditure of 70.3% and expects a revenue surplus of Rs 9,092 crore.
