Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has formally inaugurated the newly reconstructed Park Street Receiving Sub-Station (RSS). This facility was rebuilt by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) as a necessary step for the Central Vista Project. The station ensures a steady supply of electricity to some of the busiest metro lines in the capital. The project was completed in December 2025 and is now fully operational to serve the public transport network.

Which metro lines will benefit from this station?
The main purpose of this new sub-station is to provide uninterrupted power to the Airport Express Line and the Violet Line (Line-6). These lines carry thousands of passengers every day and need a reliable power source. Additionally, this facility is designed to meet the future power needs of the upcoming Central Vista Metro Line. This new line will connect Indraprastha to R.K. Ashram Marg under the Phase 4 expansion of the Delhi Metro.
What are the new features of the facility?
The DMRC has built this station using modern technology to save energy and protect the environment. It is constructed according to green building standards.
- Advanced Power Systems: The station is equipped with 66 kV power transformers and gas-insulated switchgear panels for safety.
- Solar Power: A rooftop solar power system is planned to generate clean electricity for the building.
- Energy Efficiency: It uses special VRF air conditioning and LED lighting to reduce electricity consumption.
- Automation: The facility features an upgraded Substation Automation System for better monitoring.
Why was the station reconstructed?
The original station was built in 2010 but had to be dismantled between 2021 and 2022. This was done to make space for the construction of the Central Vista project. The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) provided alternate land for this new building. Reconstruction work began in 2023 and the DMRC worked to finish it by late 2025. This relocation ensures that the development of the Central Vista area does not affect the operations of the Delhi Metro.
