The Delhi Police has arrested a husband and wife team for allegedly cheating multiple home buyers in the national capital. Naresh Kumar Sikri (57) and his wife Sharda Sikri (55) were taken into custody from Greater Noida after a long search. They are accused of selling the same apartment in Dwarka Sector-9 to several different people and collecting crores of rupees fraudulently. The police operation was successfully led by the team from Dwarka South Police Station under the guidance of DCP Ankit Singh.

How did the couple trick the buyers?

According to the police investigation, the couple owned a flat in Dwarka which was registered in Sharda’s name. This property was already mortgaged to a bank. To arrange funds to settle their existing bank dues, they allegedly decided to cheat new buyers. They entered into agreements to sell this single property to multiple different people at the same time.

They took large advance payments from these unsuspecting buyers, collecting an estimated total of ₹2 crore to ₹2.5 crore. Naresh Sikri, who worked as a loan agent, reportedly used his professional knowledge to plan this scheme. After collecting the money, they failed to execute the sale deeds and fled from their residence to avoid the buyers.

What action has been taken against them?

The legal trouble for the couple began when multiple FIRs were registered against them in January and July 2024. Despite the cases, they remained on the run for a long time. The court had even declared Sharda Sikri a Proclaimed Offender in September 2025 after she failed to appear for proceedings.

Using technical surveillance, the police finally tracked them down to a hideout in Greater Noida on February 27, 2026. Following their arrest, they were produced before a Delhi court and have been sent to judicial custody. The police are now examining their bank transactions to find out if there are more victims involved in this fraud.
