The Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Highway is entering its final stages of preparation for a grand opening scheduled for the first week of April 2026. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the 210-km long expressway, which will significantly reduce the travel time between the two cities from nearly six hours to just 2.5 hours. While the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has intensified cleaning and painting work, several roadside amenities are still under construction.

Status of Parking and Modern Amenities Along the Route
Despite the fast-approaching inauguration date, the construction of parking and rest areas remains incomplete. NHAI is currently inviting bids and planning facilities that will include clean restrooms, first-aid rooms, drinking water, and food outlets. These designated rest stops will also feature dedicated electric vehicle (EV) parking bays, occupying 10% of the total space, alongside solar-powered lighting and electronic parking fee systems.
Currently, six helipads are being prepared near the Forest Research Institute in Dehradun to facilitate the Prime Minister’s arrival. NHAI teams are working round the clock on ground-level preparations, including waste removal and the construction of service roads. Three specific parking sites near the East Delhi District Magistrate’s office, Geeta Colony, and Gandhi Nagar Market are also part of the final development phase.
