On Monday, April 6, 2026, Delhi University’s Ramjas College and Miranda House received a bomb threat via email. This led to immediate panic among students and staff, prompting a quick evacuation of both premises. Delhi Police, along with the Bomb Disposal Squad and sniffer dogs, reached the spot to conduct a detailed search to ensure everyone’s safety and secure the area.

What happened during the search operation?
The security agencies took the email very seriously and started a massive search operation across both campuses. Students, faculty, and other staff members were asked to leave the buildings as a precautionary measure. Experts from the Bomb Disposal Squad and sniffer dog teams checked every corner of the colleges. After a thorough investigation, officials confirmed that no suspicious items or explosives were found on the premises.
Is there a link to other threats in the region?
Police authorities are currently investigating the source of the email to identify the sender. Interestingly, the same email reportedly mentioned plans to damage Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s statue on April 14. Similar threats have been reported in other areas including Chandigarh University, schools in Jalandhar and Amritsar, and a district court in Ferozepur. While the threat in Delhi turned out to be a hoax, security has been tightened across all major colleges in the North Campus area.
