A major fire started around 3:15 PM in a factory and godown used for making helmets in West Delhi’s Kamruddin Nagar area. The blaze was intense and quickly spread to a neighboring factory, leading to chaos in the locality. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) initially dispatched 21 fire tenders to the site, but the number was later increased to 24 due to the severity of the flames. Firefighters have managed to control the fire to a large extent, and cooling operations are currently underway to stop any reignition. The exact cause of the fire is not yet known and is being investigated.
Details of incidents in Janakpuri and Nangloi
Apart from the factory fire, two other fire accidents occurred in West Delhi on the same day. A fire broke out at a banquet hall in Janakpuri, where fire tenders were deployed to control the flames. While property damage is feared, there were no reports of anyone getting hurt. In another incident, a residential house in the JJ Colony of Nangloi caught fire, damaging household goods. Local residents helped fire officials in the initial rescue work, and the situation was brought under control in time.
Traffic impact and safety updates
The movement of over two dozen fire tenders affected traffic flow in the Mundka, Nangloi, and Janakpuri areas. Authorities advised locals to avoid these routes while the operations were active. Thankfully, no casualties have been officially confirmed in any of these three incidents so far. A search operation was conducted at the factory site to ensure no workers were trapped inside. The fire department has reiterated the need for valid Fire NOCs and proper safety equipment in all industrial units to prevent such mishaps.
