Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Singh visited GB Pant Hospital on February 9, 2026. They inaugurated several critical medical facilities to improve public healthcare. The new additions include a CT Scan facility, a Cath Lab, and a Neuro ICU. This move comes as the state government completes one year in office.
New Medical Facilities for Patients
The Radiology department at GB Pant Hospital is now equipped with modern technology. The new equipment includes 256-slice and 128-slice CT scanners and a 1.5 T MRI machine. The government has stated a goal to equip all Delhi government hospitals with functional MRI and CT scan services by early 2026. This step aims to reduce the long waiting times that patients often face for diagnostic tests.
Cost Benefits for Common Man
These new facilities will provide financial relief to many residents. Earlier reports from 2024–2025 indicated that patients had to pay around ₹18,500 at private centers when government machines were down. Now, these diagnostic services will be available at a fraction of the cost or free for eligible residents under the state public health welfare system. This aligns with the administration’s shift to Ayushman Clinics and integration with central health schemes.
