What are the key instructions given by the LG?
The LG has directed the department to scale up AI-driven digital enforcement to ensure transparent monitoring of traffic violations 24/7. To improve road safety and flow, the following measures will be strictly enforced:
- Higher visibility of police personnel at congestion-prone areas to deter violators
- Strict action against wrong-side driving, overspeeding, and lane jumping
- Continuous checks for helmet and seat belt compliance across all major roads
- Collaboration with Resident Welfare Associations and market groups to solve local parking issues
New fleet and tech-driven management for Delhi roads
During the review, LG Sandhu flagged off a new fleet of Disaster Management Vehicles and special women-led scooter teams for the Traffic Police. He noted that traffic jams lead to fuel wastage and increased emissions, affecting the productivity of citizens. The LG also suggested involving youth groups for practical inputs on using technology to fix traffic bottlenecks. This shift towards scientific management aims to bring the traffic system in line with global smart city standards.
