Delhi Police has solved the mystery behind the three bodies found in a car on the Peeragarhi flyover earlier this week. A self-styled godman has been arrested for allegedly poisoning the victims. Initially, investigators suspected a suicide pact when the bodies were discovered on Sunday afternoon, but forensic evidence and CCTV footage pointed towards a planned murder. The accused reportedly fled with cash after committing the crime.
How did the accused carry out the crime?
The investigation revealed that the suspect posed as a tantrik and claimed he could double or triple money through special rituals. He convinced the victims to bring cash with them for a ceremony inside the vehicle. Police officials stated that the accused fed the three victims poisoned laddus and soda laced with a very strong toxic substance. Once the victims became unconscious, the godman stole ₹2 lakh from them and left the car on the service lane.
Who were the victims involved in this case?
The three individuals found inside the white Tata Tigor have been identified by the police. The victims included:
- Randhir Singh (76): The owner of the car and a resident of Baprola village.
- Shiv Naresh Singh (47): A local property dealer from Baprola.
- Laxmi Devi (40): A caregiver residing in Jahangirpuri.
CCTV footage from the area confirmed that the accused was present in the front passenger seat of the car with the victims for several hours before their deaths. This evidence was crucial in changing the direction of the probe from suicide to murder.
