Delhi Police Crime Branch has successfully busted a criminal network involved in stealing and selling free medicines from government hospitals. This gang was diverting life-saving drugs, originally meant for poor patients, into the private market for illegal profits. During the operation, the police seized 99 boxes of medicines worth approximately 70 lakh rupees from Rajendra Market. Investigations revealed that these supplies were being illegally transported to Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

The police arrested five individuals who played different roles in this conspiracy. Among those caught are a pharmacist and a store assistant from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital who helped in manipulating the records. The seized boxes carried the official stamp of Govt Supply Not for Sale. The authorities found that the medicines were being sent to Saharanpur where they were distributed to other cities through a network of brokers.

The gang operated by taking out high-value medicines like Meropenem, Ceftriaxone, and Rabies Antiserum from the hospital stock. These medicines were then sent to Neeraj Kumar, who runs Aditya Pharmacy in Saharanpur. A case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including criminal breach of trust and cheating.
