The Delhi Police Crime Branch has successfully dismantled a massive international cyber fraud network that cheated people of more than Rs 300 crore. The syndicate used fake investment platforms and messaging groups to lure innocent victims into losing their hard-earned money. This operation led to the arrest of 11 individuals, including the alleged mastermind Karan Kajaria, who was caught at the Kolkata airport on April 3, 2026. The syndicate is believed to have been active for approximately four to five years.

How the Rs 300 Crore Cyber Scam Operated

The syndicate operated a highly organized network, targeting over 2,500 people across India through more than 2,500 complaints linked to their activities. They created fake investment apps and used malicious software to steal sensitive banking details and OTPs from victims. To hide the money trail, the group used a complex system involving over 260 bank accounts linked to 100 fictitious companies. Funds were eventually converted into cryptocurrency and sent to foreign operators, primarily based in Cambodia.

Key Arrests and Recovery by Delhi Police

The investigation gained momentum after a Delhi resident reported a loss of Rs 31.45 lakh through a fake scheme. Mastermind Karan Kajaria was intercepted at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport after a Look Out Circular was issued against him. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Aditya Gautam confirmed that Kajaria was the primary link between the Indian operations and foreign handlers. During the crackdown, authorities seized a large volume of digital equipment and documents.
