The Delhi Police have successfully solved the mystery surrounding a charred body found earlier this month near the Majlis Park Metro Station in Northwest Delhi. Officials identified the victim as 17-year-old Vishnu from Azadpur, who had been missing since February 11. Following a detailed investigation, the police arrested two suspects, Gaurav and Vinay, who allegedly committed the crime to settle an old score.

What was the reason behind this murder?

Police investigations revealed that this incident was a case of revenge killing linked to a murder that took place in August 2025. The victim, Vishnu, was previously an accused in the murder of a man named Deepak and had been sent to a juvenile home. He was released on bail recently on January 31, 2026.

One of the arrested suspects, Gaurav alias Kaliya, was a neighbor and close associate of the late Deepak. On the night of the incident, Vishnu was drinking with the accused when he allegedly bragged about his involvement in the previous murder and threatened Gaurav. This provocation led Gaurav and his accomplice Vinay to attack Vishnu with a stone and set his body on fire to destroy evidence.

How did the police track down the accused?

The case began with a PCR call on the morning of February 12 regarding a fire in the bushes near the metro station. The police recovered a burnt body which remained unidentified for a few days. The breakthrough came when Vishnu’s family identified him at the BJRM Hospital mortuary after seeing photographs circulated by the police.
