Commuters in New Delhi need to plan their journey carefully today. The Delhi Traffic Police has announced specific traffic restrictions for the Beating Retreat Ceremony which marks the end of Republic Day celebrations. These changes are effective on January 29, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 9:30 PM in several areas around the Rashtrapati Bhawan and Vijay Chowk.

Roads Closed for Traffic Today
To ensure the smooth conduct of the ceremony and security of the VVIPs including the President, several key routes are closed for general public. The restrictions apply to the following areas:
- Vijay Chowk: Completely closed for general traffic.
- Rafi Marg: Closed between Sunehri Masjid roundabout and Krishi Bhawan roundabout.
- Raisina Road: No entry from Krishi Bhawan towards Vijay Chowk.
- Kartavya Path: Closed between Vijay Chowk and C-Hexagon.
- Other Areas: Dara Shikoh Road and Krishna Menon Marg are also restricted.
Alternative Routes and Advisories
The police have asked citizens to avoid these areas and use alternative roads to avoid congestion. Drivers can use Ring Road, Ridge Road, Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, and Rani Jhansi Road to reach their destinations. Buses going towards Central Secretariat and Connaught Place are also diverted through Udyan Marg and Mandir Marg during these hours. The ceremony tickets were sold for 100 Rs via the Aamantran portal.
