delhibreakings delhi uttam nagar holi murder case water balloon dispute Delhi Man Killed in Uttam Nagar After Cousin Accidentally Throws Holi Balloon on Woman, 4 Arrested

A minor dispute over a Holi water balloon turned fatal in Southwest Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area, resulting in the death of a 26-year-old man. The victim, identified as Tarun, was a digital marketing student living in the JJ Cluster. The incident occurred on Wednesday night when a water balloon thrown by a child accidentally hit a woman passing by. Police have arrested four people in connection with the murder.

How did the argument start over a water balloon?

The sequence of events began around 10:00 PM on Wednesday. An 11-year-old girl, who is the cousin of the victim, was playing on the terrace. She threw a water balloon filled with Holi color intending to hit a relative, but it missed the target and splashed on a woman walking on the street below.

Witnesses state that the woman immediately got into a verbal argument with the family. Although she left the scene after the initial spat, she returned shortly after with a group of male relatives. This led to a violent confrontation between the two families in the neighborhood.

What actions have the police taken so far?

According to reports, the mob cornered Tarun and brutally attacked him with sticks, iron rods, and stones. Family members allege that a heavy stone was thrown on his chest while he was lying on the road. He was rushed to a hospital but died during treatment on Thursday.

Delhi Police have registered an FIR under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Additional DCP Niharika Bhatt confirmed that the fight stemmed from the balloon incident and that four accused have been arrested. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify other members of the mob, and heavy police deployment remains in place to maintain law and order.
