Residents and commuters in Greater Noida West will soon find relief from daily traffic congestion at the busy Gaur Chowk. The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has confirmed that the construction of the Char Murti Underpass is progressing well. As of February 2026, approximately 60% of the work has been completed. Officials are now targeting June 2026 as the deadline to open this facility for the public.

What is the current status of the construction?
According to the latest project updates, construction crews have completed 320 meters of the structure out of the total 720-meter planned length. Work is currently active on the remaining section, involving excavation, shuttering, and roof slab casting. Senior officials, including the CEO of GNIDA, inspected the site recently to ensure timelines are met.
The project had faced some hurdles regarding the shifting of a large sewer line and electricity cables. However, the authority has directed the project department to expedite this relocation. Once the utility shifting is done in the coming days, the remaining construction speed will increase significantly to meet the June target.
How will this benefit the common man?
This underpass is a crucial infrastructure project for the region. Once operational, it will allow traffic moving between Pratap Vihar (Ghaziabad) and Surajpur to pass through without stopping at the Gaur Chowk roundabout. This will eliminate the long waiting times at the signal. The iconic Char Murti statues will also be reinstalled at the center of the redesigned intersection.
